If ever changes are required to the front-end database of the CRIS, then an new version of the file C:\Program Files\CRIS\CRIS.mde will need to be created. Under normal circumstances this should not be required – all changes to data in the system are made directly to the back-end database (in the region specific file C:\Program Files\CRIS\<XXXX>\CRIS_<XXXX>.mdb).
IMPORTANT WARNING: You must make a backup copy of the file C:\Program Files\CRIS\CRIS.mdb before starting this process, as the original file will no longer be editable once the process is complete.
1. Open the front-end database file C:\Program Files\CRIS\CRIS.mdb
2. Select Tools|Startup and change Display Form/Page to (none)
3. Close CRIS.mdb
4. Start CRIS.mdb again – notice that the CRIS main form does not appear.
5. Go to the Database window, select the Macros tab, select DisableEdits, and click on Run. Click OK to the message that appears.
6. Under Tools | Startup, change Display Form/Page back to CRIS Menu. Change the Menu Bar: to CRIS Menu Bar, and deselect Display Database Window, Allow Full Menus, Allow Built-in Toolbars, and Allow Toolbar/Menu Changes. Click the Advanced button, and deselect Use Access Special Keys. Click OK.
