National Focal Point

The NFP is the local agency and person responsible for coordinating all CPACC related issues in the country. Typically, the NFP chairs a National Implementation Coordinating Unit (NICU) which is a committee of relevant public and private sector agencies involved in the CPACC process or related matters. In several countries, the NICU may be a Cabinet appointed body to address the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Montreal Protocol on Ozone Depleting Substances issues. Other NICUs are standing environmental advisory bodies.

National Repository for CPACC Data and Information

The national repositories are those agencies that have been designated as the main recipients of the technical assistance and information being provided under Component 3 Inventory of Coastal Resources and Uses. These agencies will receive a Coastal Resource Inventory System (CRIS) for their respective countries. The CRIS is a database with a user interface that allows greater access to the information by decision makers. This will comprise spatial data that will be stored and represented in Arcview GIS and attribute data stored in Microsoft Access. The data will be compiled from existing sources, extracted from remotely sensed imagery and collected in activities related to the pilot Component of each country.
