Site Description

Georgetown the capital of Guyana is the Chief Port and was once used as a fort to guard the early Dutch Settlements of the Demerara River. It is situated on the Eastern (right) bank of the mouth of the Demerara River. Its population in 1996 was approximately 200,000.
